Whistle Power Supply
- Phihong PSC-30U-120 (originally PSA-30U-120)
- The InterJet requires a stiff and accurate 12V DC. The 12V DC output of most PC Power Supplies is typically below 12V and will not work.
- Remove and recycle the internal battery.

LCD Panel
The LCD controller interface can be locked up. Also, it appears that some functions are only partially implemented or have weird side effects.
- Emerging Display Technologies Corp. EG50010GLYU Graphic Module (STN + Gray, Transflective, Yellow-Green backlight, 12 o'clock viewing angle)
- 20 characters x 8 rows. Each character cell is 6 x 8. For graphics, resolution is 120 x 64.
- Serial data from COM2 is processed on the CPU board by U20, an Atmel AT89C2051, and converted to parallel data for the LCD module. Similarly, keyboard data is processed by U20 and sent to COM2.
- control codes
  - Example Korn shell script
  - Cursor Positioning
    - X position = (control-A) 0x01 + (x-cordinate in pixels + 4)
      example: control-A + control-F (0x01 + 0x06) = start at x=2 pixel.
      There are 3 pixels extra at each side of the LCD screen. Also, when using X positioning with characters use a normal character boundary, ie. (position - 4) must be divisible by 6.
    - Y position = (control-B) 0x02 + (y-cordinate in pixels * 8)
      example: control-B + control-A (0x02 + 0x01) = start at y=8 pixel, ie. second character row.
  - Graphics = (control-C) 0x03 + [number of vertical stripes] + [graphic data] + ....
    - Drawing graphics beyond edge of screen can lock up LCD display.
    - Mixing graphics and text can have weird side effects. Sometimes cursor positioning between text mode and graphics mode gets confused.

- Reprogram the DNET only if necessary
  
  Reprogramming the DNET card is a royal PIA. Any modifications you make to the DNET card are done entirely at your own risk.
  - There is no way to address the AT/LANTIC chips separately without modifying the card.
  - SEPARATE THE CHIPS AS DESCRIBED BELOW BEFORE RUNNING ATLCS.
  - Pin 126 of the AT/LANTIC is reset. The chip is held in reset while pin 126 is high. The traces to pin 126 must be cut to isolate the reset signal from each of the two chips. With pin 126 of one chip tied high and pin 126 of the other tied to ISA bus reset it is safe to run the ATLCS setup program. After programming and testing one chip, connect that chip's pin 126 high and move the other chip pin 126 to reset. Run ATLCS again for the other chip. With both chips programmed both chips pin 126 can be reconnected to reset.
  - SEPARATE THE CHIPS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE BEFORE RUNNING ATLCS.
  - Adjust the kernel settings to match your chip settings. The settings in the example kernel are different than the default.

  - My DNET card seems to lose it's configuration periodically. The AT/LANTIC chips go into disabled mode. There is no way to recover the card without going to all of the trouble above. ARRGH!

Version 4.0

Installation
- Move disk to regular PC.
- Install NetBSD via sysinst (boot install CD).
- Select serial boot blocks, com0, 57600 bps.
- When finished, remember to copy custom Whistle kernel.
- Shutdown, remove disk from PC and reinstall in InterJet.
- Connect serial console to DB9 on CPU board.
- Boot and customize as neccessary (install custom kernel, add packages, etc).
My Whistle InterJet comes up with only 8MB when cold booted. As a workaround, the kernel config has hardcoded values for memory:
